Three charged in death of toddler at daycare

MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. -- The LaPorte County Prosecutor's Office has charged three people in the death of 5-year-old Amereon Williams on June 9, 2014 at Tricia's Playhouse in Michigan City.

Williams was at Tricia's Playhouse on June 9 when he accidentally hanged himself on a jump rope tied to a piece of wood on the playground.

The coroner determined he died of asphyxiation.

The owner of Tricia's Playhouse, Tricia Calvin, has been charged with reckless homicide and involuntary manslaughter. She turned herself in Friday and posted bond.

Two other employees of the daycare also face charges.

Stephanie Johnson and Erica Merriweather are each charged with reckless homicide and involuntary manslaughter.
