After closure in 2020, YMCA reopens in downtown
MIAMI COUNTY, Ind. -- Three children died following a house fire in Miami County Saturday morning, according to Indiana State Police. The children were all under the age of 7.
Firefighters were called to 13475 CR 300 east in rural Kokomo at 10:48 a.m. by a resident of the home.
The resident told firefighters there was heavy smoke and three children were trapped inside.
The first unit arrived at 11:04 a.m. and quickly recovered the three children from a room on the second floor, reports said.
All three were unconscious and not breathing.
Miracle Gingerich, 6, Steven Gingerich, 5, and Wilma Gingerich, 1, were taken to area hospitals. All three were later pronounced deceased at the hospitals.
Autopsies will be conducted to determine how they died.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
