Three injured in crash on Carpenterson Road

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Mich. - Three people were injured in a crash that left one vehicle submerged in a pond Friday afternoon, according to the St. Joseph County Sheriff's Office.

At 3:16 p.m., deputies responded to the area of Kelly Road and Carpenterson Road in Burr Oak Township for the two-vehicle crash.

According to the investigation, an 18-year-old Sturgis resident was driving north on Carpenterson Road when the teenager allegedly ran a stop sign and struck an eastbound pickup truck driven by a 70-year-old Burr Oak resident.

The impact caused the truck to lose control and eventually end up in a nearby pond.

The driver was able to get out of the truck.

The 18-year-old driver was taken to the hospital for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

An 18-year-old passenger in the vehicle was taken to the hospital for serious injuries.

The driver of the truck was also taken to the hospital for serious injuries.

This crash is still under investigation.
