Three Rivers Police arrest Kalamazoo man after pursuit that ended in a crash

THREE RIVERS, Mich.—Three Rivers Police arrested a Kalamazoo man on January 11 after an incident involving a handgun.

Officers were flagged down by a subject near Edgewater Apartments around 4:45 p.m. on Saturday.

The subject reported to police that they were threatened by a suspect with a handgun.

A few blocks away, officers located a vehicle matching the description and conducted a traffic stop.

The suspect vehicle left the scene, and a vehicle pursuit began.

During the pursuit, the suspect threw contraband from the vehicle, police said.

The suspect crashed the vehicle into a yard in the 1000 block of Madison Street where he was then taken into custody.

Police K-9 Jake assisted police in locating methamphetamine and drug packaging in the vehicle, according to the Three Rivers Police Department.

A 41-year-old Kalamazoo man on federal probation was arrested on suspicion of assault, fleeing and eluding, possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine and reckless driving.

Michigan State Police and the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department assisted in the arrest.
