SOUTH BEND, Ind - Police say that this shooting occurred at a house party attended by around 100 people, including many juveniles.

It happened in South Bend, where a shooting occurred on West Washington Street near Walnut Street that has left three people injured.

An alarming number of people opened fire during this July 4th gathering with police confirming today more than 130 rounds were fired by 13 different firearms in this shooting.

The wild shooting happened in the 1200 block of West Washington Street around 1:20 a.m. Wednesday.

According to South Bend Police, two women were found shot outside a residence and were immediately rushed to the emergency room and a third victim, a male remains in critical but stable condition.

Chief Scott Ruszkowski says none of the witnesses at the party were willing to help despite 13 weapons being fired.

"For there to be hundreds of people out there and to get the lack of cooperation that we have gotten so far, that's inexcusable and disheartening to say the least, here is the audio from ShotSpotter, just excerpts, just two of the same incidents, there were more,” said Ruszkowski.

Police taped off part of the neighborhood while they searched for evidence overnight.

One longtime neighbor, Mary Wilson who showed ABC57 the bullet hole left in the side of her house from the shooting says she's tired of the gunfire.

“We like things to be in good shape, and to just live out here and see the people, the children, the adults that don’t have no structure, no supervision and you know they just come out and decide to have fun, but the fun turns into tragedy,” said Wilson.

Another concerned neighbor, Christiana Chandler, is not surprised a late-night party with so many people turned violent.

“All the people that’s been coming out here from out of town, every weekend, they come out here these young kids, they part they disturb older people making a bunch of noise and they just keep up a bunch of trouble,” said Chandler.

"Nobody's exempt, but like we need to know what kids are doing, I don't know how difficult that could be, I know people have said before, well you're a finger pointer, well then that's what it is then I am finger pointing, know where your kids are, be in their business,” said Chief Scott Ruszkowski.

South Bend police are now using the acronym “G-U-T-S" as in "give up the shooter", but in this case--there may be 13 different shooters, so they are urging anyone to come forward with information.
