Three trucks collide in Elkhart County intersection

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- Elkhart County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a three-vehicle collision at the intersection of S.R. 119 and C.R. 13 on Wednesday that resulted in one person being taken to Elkhart General Hospital for neck and back pain.

Authorities say that around 6:58 a.m., a 2021 Ford F600 was being driven northwest on S.R. 119, which does not have stop signs at the intersection, and a 2016 Ford F350 was being driven the opposite way, or southeast, on S.R. 119, but had stopped at the intersection and was yielding to cross traffic before attempting to make a left turn onto C.R. 13.

At the same time, 54-year-old Syliva Liggins from Desota, Texas, was driving a 2022 Ram 2500 south on C.R. 13, which does have stop signs at the intersection of S.R. 119.

Authorities say Liggins failed to yield the right of way to the F600 and those two trucks collided in the intersection, eventually colliding with the F350 that was waiting to turn onto C.R. 13.

Liggins was cited for Failure to Yield Right of Way and taken to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment.
