Three vehicle crash in Elkhart County

ABC 57

ELKHART, Ind. --  The Elkhart Police Department responded to reports of a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of Ash Road and Old US Highway 20. The driver of a 2015 Chrysler 200 was stopped on Ash Road facing north at the intersection of Old US Highway 20, waiting to turn left.

The driver of a 2013 Ram was stopped on Ash Road near the intersection, positioned to the right of the Chrysler. The driver of a 2021 Chevrolet Spark was traveling north on Ash Road, south of the intersection with Old US Highway 20. They were driving at an unsafe speed and failed to stop behind the Chrysler, causing a rear-end collision.

The impact caused the Chevrolet Spark to spin counter-clockwise, making contact with the left side of the Ram's trailer. Alcoholic beverages are believed to be a factor. A search warrant was obtained for the Chevrolet Spark driver, who was later arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
