Tigers face tough task in regular season finale
WARSAW, Ind -- After taking down a tough Concord team last week on Under the Lights, the Tigers will have another tall task this week in their regular season finale, going up against the also undefeated Northridge Raiders.
"Bart Ball", the affectionate nickname given to Warsaw head coach Bart Curtis's style of play, was on full display last week against Concord.
Now, in week 9, a matchup of two undefeated teams, before the playoffs begin.
"Compete like crazy tomorrow night, every snap, don't be concerned about any end results, be concerned about how it is getting there. It's easy to say the scoreboard takes care of itself, it does, but don't worry about what's going on throughout the game, just focus on the very next snap. If we can do that and play our very best and our very hardest each individual snap, that's a success," said Curtis.
As the Tigers prepare for their final tune up before the postseason, Curtis is still finding areas where his team can improve.
"We have got to take care of the football, we put the ball on the turf three times last Friday night, lost two of them, so we have to make sure that we don't give anybody moving forward additional possessions, Northridge doesn't need any help tomorrow night, they're good enough without the help," said Curtis.
A win tonight would clinch an undefeated regular season for Warsaw, as well as the Northern Lakes Conference. Perfect timing, as this team, according to Curtis, is starting to hit their stride.
"We try to tailor things throughout the summer, and in the offseason, and our non-conference opponents to where you want to be playing your best football in late October, November. We're in mid-October, I think we've improved in a lot of areas, there's still some things we do that drive me absolutely bonkers, I won't go into those," said Curtis.
The Raiders and Tigers will square off at Interra Field in Middlebury at 7 p.m.
