Time lapse video shows Costa Concordia being lifted upright

GIGLIO, Italy (CNN) -- Engineers called it a perfect operation. After 20 months of planning and preparation, the Costa Concordia is finally upright.

The cruise ship ran aground off Italy 20 months ago.

It took 19 hours to complete the first stage of the recovery process, the biggest project of its kind.
Crews released a time-lapse video of the project to put the ship upright.

The Costa Concordia will be towed to a salvage yard and be broken up and sold for scrap.
