Toll Road crash takes the life of an Angola woman

SHIPSHEWANA, Ind. – The Indiana State Police responded to a crash on the I-80/90 Indiana Toll Road Sunday morning in LaGrange County. Troopers found a blue 2007 Toyota passenger vehicle rolled on its side in the median, with two women unresponsive and trapped inside.

Police were able to turn the vehicle over and remove both passengers, but the driver, Theresa Devos from Angola, remained unresponsive and not breathing.

The troopers immediately performed CPR but all life-saving efforts were not successful, with Devos dying on the scene.

The passenger of the vehicle, Devos’ daughter Marie, was transported to the Elkhart General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

According to Master Trooper Tim McCormick’s investigation, the vehicle hydroplaned due to rain which sent it off the road into a guardrail. The vehicle then spun and eventually rolled onto its side.

The crash remains under investigation.
