ELKHART, Ind. -- The Tolson Center for Community Excellence announced it has been awarded a $3,000 grant from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation to support the Summer Quest K-1 Literacy program.

"We are honored to receive this $3,000 grant from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation to support our Summer Quest K-1 Reading program. This investment affirms the power of early literacy and helps us equip our youngest scholars with the tools they need to grow, imagine, and succeed. When we build strong readers, we build strong futures”, says Dr. Breanna Allen, Executive Director Tolson Center.

The Tolson's Summer Quest is the annual summer programming designed for students in grades K-5.

Officials say the camp provides a high-quality educational experience over the course of six weeks spanning through June and July.

The camp kicks off June 9 and runs Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

There are two six-week sessions you can sign kids up for on the Tolson's website.

“For over 30 years, the Foundation has been investing in literacy and basic education programs in our hometown communities,” shared Denine Torr, executive director of the Dollar General Literacy Foundation. “Today’s grant announcement is a celebration of our unwavering commitment to student and teacher success. We are grateful to all the grant recipients for their commitment to advancing education and helping students thrive.”
