Traffic restrictions on Western Avenue to take effect Monday and Wednesday

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The City of South Bend Department of Public Works has announced that a section of Western Avenue will be closed on October 28 and October 30 for construction/road improvement.

On October 28 from 12-3 p.m., Western Avenue will be closed from Dundee Street to Falcon Street for the hauling and unloading of an AT&T structure.

Detour routes will be Sheridan and Olive Streets via Sample Street. Westbound traffic on Western Avenue is expected to reopen at 3:00 p.m.

On October 30 from 6-7 p.m., Dundee Street to Falcon Street will be closed again as crews put in new concrete pavement.

Detour routes will be Sheridan and Olive Streets via Sample Street. The anticipated reopening time for westbound traffic is 7:00 p.m., weather permitting.

Eastbound traffic on Western Avenue continues to be detoured during construction until the Western Avenue Streetscape Improvement Project is complete in mid-November.

The Western Avenue improvement project resumed work on Monday, November 4, as crews continue to repave a section of the road between Dundee and Falcon Streets.

The project is expected to be completed by Mid-November.
