Traffic stop leads to alleged drug arrests in La Porte County

LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. – A woman was arrested on alleged drug charges following a traffic stop on January 24.

According to officials, a deputy with the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office was traveling in the 6000 west block of Johnson Road at 11:20 p.m. Sunday when he observed a vehicle traveling southeast on Johnson Road.

Upon activating his radar to read the speed of the vehicle, the deputy discovered the vehicle was speeding well above the posted 45 miles per hour speed limit, officials said.

The deputy initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of Johnson Road and C.R. 500 West and as the stop progressed, the driver of the vehicle gave consent to a search of the vehicle.

The deputy discovered illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia while searching the vehicle, the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office said.

According to officials, the driver of the vehicle, 36-year-old Stacy Sutton of La Porte, was arrested for the following charges:

  • Dealing in Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance
  • Driving While Suspended
  • Prior Violation
