Traffic stop produces two felony drug arrests
LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. – Early yesterday morning, the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office exercised a traffic stop that produced felony drug arrests.
Sergeant Jon Burger was traveling northbound on Franklin Street behind a silver Honda passenger vehicle with a license plate that was not visible.
A traffic stop was initiated and Sergeant Burger observed a temporary license plate that was not secured properly on to the rear of the vehicle – what was also observed was the plate being registered to a green Ford rather than a silver Honda.
The driver was identified as 24-year-old Susan D. Hopper of Warsaw.
The passenger of the vehicle was identified as Blake J. Brown, a 28-year-old of South Bend.
Michigan City Police Department Officer Michael Petrie and his K9 partner Edo arrived to assist.
Edo performed a free-air sniff around the exterior of the vehicle and provided a positive alert.
Both Hopper and Brown were taken into custody and transported to the La Porte County Jail.
Hopper was arrested for dealing in a narcotic drug and possession of a hypodermic syringe; she is being held on a $50,005.00 cash-only bond.
Brown was arrested for possession of a narcotic drug and possession of a hypodermic syringe; he is being held without a bond.
