Transpo extends mobile ticketing program

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The South Bend Public Transportation Corporation is extending their mobile ticketing pilot program, which launched in October 2020.

The Token Transit app is another way for Transpo users to pay fares and allows riders to purchase and activate Day, Two Week, and 31-Day passes from their smartphones.

"Enhancing the rider experience is at the forefront of every decision we make at Transpo, which is why we’re so happy to extend our mobile ticketing program after its overwhelming initial success, " said Amy Hill, GM and CEO of Transpo. “A contactless payment option is important to the health and safety of our passengers and community and a step towards introducing new technologies to improve accessibility.”

Since its launch, over 21,000 Transpo rides have been provided through the Token Transit app.

Mobile passes purchased through the app cost the same as regular paper passes:

  • Day Passes - $3
  • Two Week Pass - $18
  • 31-Day Adult Pass - $35

Mobile passes can also be purchased and sent directly to another smartphone.

Throughout the program’s extension, data will be collected and analyzed in conjunction with rider feedback in order to figure out how to integrate mobile ticketing into future initiatives.
