SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Local travel is going to be impacted greatly this evening and into the new year thanks to a good amount of wintery weather headed our way.
It starts with system snow, with some of the snow starting to creep in our area close to 1 pm. By the time people are leaving work, widespread snow is expected across our entire area.
Some heavier bands expected with this system, visibility likely cut down, and the system snow clears by the time we are reaching around 9 pm, maybe the time you’re headed to the first, maybe even second celebration location.
By the time the ball drops, the lake effect is wrapping up, so you may want to stay at your location for a tiny bit, perhaps leaving around 1 am.
Snow expected to accumulate on the roads, and slick conditions are likely, with people driving dangerously as it is on New Year’s Eve, take the roads a little slower and drive defensively as possible.
