Tree falls on South Bend home

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The sun has come out, but the damage from Saturday night’s storm is still visible.

An enormous tree fell on a house on Marquette Boulevard in South Bend Saturday evening.  No one was hurt. The family who lives in the home was at church when the tree fell.

“She heard a loud crash and looked out her window and it slowly fell,” said the woman who lives in the home, Angie Liskey.

Angie Liskey says not even a phone call from her neighbor could prepare her for the sight of the enormous tree on her house.

“My heart just sank because this is a big tree on our house, you know?” said Liskey.

The view of the tree is so unbelievable; cars have been stopping by all day to see it like some sort of tourist attraction.

“People have been stopping by all day going, ‘Oh my gosh!’ and I have seen quite a few people slowly turn around at the end of the street and come back trying to be slick, but I have been watching,” said Liskey.

Neighbor Hank Robinson even stopped by to snap a picture.

“Maybe I missed a tornado while I was out of town,” said Robinson.

Liskey said she knew the storm was bad Saturday night.

“I knew there strong winds,” said Liskey.

But she did not think it was this bad.

Still she is thankful she and her family were not home when the tree came tumbling down.

“I am thankful that no one was hurt; it could have been much worse,” said Liskey.
