Tree falls on traveling vehicle; One person in hospital

Elkhart County Sheriff’s were called to the scene of an accident Saturday after a tree fell onto a moving vehicle.

The crash happened around 3:00 p.m. 

50-year-old Robin Buchanan of Granger was traveling north on County Road 1 just south of Blaine Avenue when a tree fell across the roadway.

Officials say high winds caused the tree to fall, landing on top of the vehicle as it was moving.

Buchanan was transported to the hospital for evaluation and treatment of facial lacerations and chest and arm pains.

There was heavy damage to the front end, roof, and driver’s side of the vehicle.

No other injuries were reported.
