Two 12-year-olds arrested after fight reported on playground

ELKHART, Ind. – Two 12-year-old girls were arrested for battery after allegedly fighting with another girl at a playground, the Elkhart Police Department reported.

At 5:17 p.m. on Sunday, an officer arrived to a residence on S. 5th Street for a fight call involving juvenile females.

The victim said a girl asked her to come to a nearby playground. The victim went to the playground with another girl and was met by three juvenile females.

As the victim walked away, one girl ran up from behind her and allegedly began punching the victim in the back.

A second girl also started punching her, according to reports.

The victim said she didn’t know they wanted to fight her and she didn’t go to the park with the intention of fighting, reports said.

The girl who arrived with the victim said she was hit in the face while trying to separate the victim and one of the girls.

Two 12-year-old girls were arrested for battery and later released to their parents.
