Two accused of breaking into abandoned buildings, stealing copper in Marshall County

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. - Two people were arrested for allegedly breaking into abandoned homes and stealing copper and scrap from them, according to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office.

Law enforcement arrested Mackenzie Vanlue for theft and Kristofer Conley for burglary and two counts of theft.

The arrests stem from an investigation that began in November 2023, when a woman claimed money was stolen out of her debit card account. During that investigation, deputies discovered the suspects involved in the case also allegedly broke into abandoned homes and stole the material.

Vanlue was arrested on February 8 while Conley was arrested on February 10.

Both are being held on bond.
