Two adults and three children flown to hospital after crash in Fulton County
ROCHESTER, Ind. – Five people were injured in a two-vehicle crash Friday evening on U.S. 31 at Sweetgum Road.
Officers from the Indiana State Police, Rochester Police Department, and Fulton County Sheriff's Department responded to the two-vehicle crash at approximately 6:07 p.m.
Investigators found that a 2012 Toyota Corolla traveled southwest on Sweetgum Road and approached a stop sign at the intersection of U.S. 31.
The Corolla failed to yield to traffic and pulled into the path of a 2019 Nissan Sentra, which struck into the drivers’ side of the Corolla, reported authorities.
The driver of the Corolla was identified as a 43-year-old local of Macy, IN, while the driver of the Nissan was identified as a 49-year-old local of Indianapolis, officials stated.
The Nissan also contained three child passengers, two boys aged five and eight, and a female child whose age is to be determined, reports stated.
All those affected were flown to a Ft. Wayne Hospital, with no report to the extent of injuries, stated authorities.
Authorities suspect that no alcohol or narcotics is suspected to have contributed to the crash, but at this time the crash remains under investigation.
