Two arrested, $60,000 worth of merchandise recovered in Berrien County

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. – Two people were arrested and approximately $60,000 worth of merchandise was recovered during a breaking and entering incident Friday morning, the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office reported.

At 1:35 a.m., police were dispatched to a warehouse in the 8500 block of Gast Road after the owner saw people inside the building via surveillance cameras.

Law enforcement responded to the scene and determined the warehouse had been broken into and the suspects left on foot.

The sheriff’s office used a drone with a thermal image camera to check the woods around the building.

The drone found two people in the woods. Law enforcement then captured the individuals and took them into custody without incident.

Further investigation led police to find approximately $60,000 worth of merchandise in two vehicles at the scene.

The two alleged suspects, a 35-year-old man and a 39-year-old man, both from the Chicago area, were taken to the Berrien County Jail on the charges of breaking and entering with intent to commit a larceny.
