Two arrested after a South Bend crime spree that lasted four hours

South Bend Police Officers have arrested two people following a crime spree that lasted four hours.

Marcus Edwards and Jerricka Johnson are being held in the St. Joseph County Jail for multiple felony charges with no bond.

Police say they were dispatched to the 1300 block of Randolph Street at 9:41 p.m. Wednesday for a report of an attempted home invasion.

The suspects were reportedly armed with long guns and allegedly fired several rounds at the house. The house was occupied by a family with four children, none of which were injured.

The suspects were unable to gain entry into the home.

At 12:15 a.m. Thursday police were dispatched to a robbery of a business located in the 3900 block of Lincoln Way West. 

The night clerk at Candlewood Suites told police a black male and a black female entered the business with masks on and robbed them.

At 12:38 a.m. Thursday police received a call of a robbery to a person in the 2500 block of West Calhoun Street. 

The victim reported being robbed while walking home near Olive Street and Calhoun Street. The victim described a vehicle pulling up and two suspects exiting the vehicle while a third suspect remained in the driver seat. The victim then described being robbed at gunpoint by the two suspects who then fled south on Olive Street in the vehicle.

At 1:13 a.m. police were dispatched to the 900 block of Leland Avenue for an attempted robbery to a person.

The victim told police he saw a black male who he recognized from seeing earlier at a gas station in the 700 block of Lincoln Way West approaching his vehicle with a long gun. The victim drove away before the suspect could rob him.

At 1:29 p.m. Officer Hipakka with the South Bend Police Department observed two suspects with shotguns carjacking two victims in the 1000 block of North Diamond Avenue.

Officer Hipakka confronted the suspects at which time the victims ran toward the officer. One suspect fled in the victims' vehicle, one fled on foot, and the other fled the area in a Dodge Stradus. 

Additional officers responded and located the victims' vehicle. Police say Jerricka Johnson was driving the vehicle and was apprehended. 

Moments later, police say they located and arrested Marcus Edwards walking in the area. 

The Dodge Stradus was found abandoned in the roadway at Vassar Street and Wilber Street with two shotguns.

Marcus Edwards has been charged with four counts of robbery, attempted robbery, intimidation, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.

Jerricka Johnson has been charged with four counts of robbery, attempted robbery, and intimidation.

Police are still searching for a third suspect who is described as a heavy set black female with a ponytail.
