Two arrested after home invasion in Dowagiac

DOWAGIAC, Mich. – Dowagiac police were called to a home invasion early Thursday morning, the suspects fled and allegedly assaulted a homeowner before being booked in the Cass County Jail.

Dowagiac Police were called to a home on the 400 block of North Front Street on Thursday around 1 a.m.

The victims claimed a suspect had a handgun and threatened the victim with it.

The suspects drove away from the home before police arrived but were tipped the suspects drove a silver vehicle.

DPD spotted the vehicle near North Front and Division Streets as it turned onto Orchard Street.

Police pulled the vehicle over. A male passenger fled the backseat of the car and police chased him.

The suspect led police to a backyard at the 200 block of McOmber Street.

The male climbed on top of a shed and then onto a second story roof of the house, police said.

Two female suspects, a driver and a passenger, stayed in the vehicle.

Officers were able to talk the suspect down from the roof after about an hour, where they arrested him.

The police located a handgun in the vehicle and the driver did not have a driver’s license.

The initial home invasion call was after an alleged altercation among the resident and suspects.

Police arrested and booked the male who fled the scene and the driver.

The driver is a 17-year-old female who was arrested on preliminary charges of home invasion, carrying a concealed weapon,

felony firearm, and driving with no license.

The male suspect was arrested on preliminary charges of home invasion, felony firearm, felonious assault, resisting and obstructing.
