Two arrested on drug charges following traffic stop

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- An Indiana State Police trooper conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle and arrested two suspects on drug charges. More drugs were found after a search warrant was served at a residence, according to police.

A trooper conducted a traffic stop on a 2003 Cadillac near E. Madison and N. Eddy Street for a traffic infraction around 3 p.m. Wednesday in South Bend.

During the stop, the trooper located suspected marijuana, four handguns, including one reported stolen, paraphernalia and $1,000 cash, according to police.

The driver, 26-year-old Brandon Whitmore, was arrested on preliminary charges of dealing marijuana, possession of marijuana, possession of a stolen handgun, and possession of a handgun without a license.

His passenger, 26-year-old Booker Stokes Jr, was arrested on preliminary charges of dealing marijuana, possession of marijuana, and possession of a handgun without a license.

As a result of the traffic stop, police obtained and served a search warrant for a home in the 700 block of Notre Dame Avenue. At the home, police say they seized suspected marijuana and paraphernalia.
