Two boaters rescued from Shock Lake in North Webster

NORTH WEBSTER, Ind. -- According to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, at approximately 2:10 p.m., Kosciusko County Dispatch received a call about a water rescue from two sinking boats on Shock Lake.

Officials say that 25-year-old, Dalton Stiver, of Cromwell, and 47-year-old, Charles Stiver, of Syracuse, were water testing a boat when it began to take on water.

The pairs’ secondary boat also took on water as the two attempted to keep the first vessel afloat.

Both boats reportedly sank quickly, and with neither Stiver wearing required-by-law personal floatation devices, they were forced to hold onto the submerged boats until rescue personnel arrived.

Turkey Creek Fire Rescue officials were able to safely retrieve the two men from the water.
