Two drivers charged with OWI after crash involving motorcycle and moped
MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind.—Two drivers were arrested and charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated after a crash involving a moped and a motorcycle on May 17.
On Friday around 7:30 p.m., officers with the Marshall County Police Department were dispatched to the area near U.S. 6 and Quince Road for a crash involving a motorcycle and moped.
Police identified two males as the drivers of each vehicle and an investigation found both drivers to be intoxicated.
The moped driver, Joseph S. Houston, 62, of Lapaz, tested to be over two times the legal limit of alcohol, police said. He is charged with operating a vehicle with a BAC of .15 or more, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, endangering and resisting law enforcement.
The motorcycle driver, Derrik J. Singleton, 22, of Knox, tested to be over three times the legal limit of alcohol, police said. He is charged with operating a vehicle with a BAC of .15 or more and operating a vehicle while intoxicated, endangering.
Both drivers were taken to jail.
