Two Elkhart County corrections officers fired for allegedly breaking protocol

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. - Two Elkhart County corrections officers were fired recently for allegedly breaking protocol while on the job, according to documents from the Elkhart County Sheriff's Office.

According to documents, Corporal Allen Brugh was discharged after he allegedly spread rumors that he was having sexual relations with a female supervisor.

When questioned about it, Brugh initially said he did not make those statements but later said he made the statements but was joking, reports said.

He was fired from the department on February 6.

Sergeant Michael Metzger was discharged for allegedly not meeting deadlines and completing assignments as a shift sergeant.

Metzger did not investigate or report allegations of improper employee relationships he was notified of and did not follow policy regarding the use of his body camera system, according to reports. He allegedly did not activate his body camera when working with inmates a number of times.

Documents state Metzger failed to supervise his team properly and did not attend scheduled training.

He was fired from the department on February 7.
