Two Goshen schools placed on lockdown Wednesday

Goshen schools Bethany Christian and Waterford Elementary were placed on lockdown Wednesday because of a suicidal subject.

The Elkhart Sheriff's Department says they were called to a home in the 19000 block of CR 40 for reports of a suicidal subject. Police believed the suspect had a weapon in their possession.

The schools were placed on lockdown at the request of the Goshen Police Department.

The person was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

At Bethany Christian School, the lockdown started at noon and was lifted at around 12:40 p.m.

Waterford Elementary was placed on lockdown at approximately 11:45 a.m. and the lockout was lifted at approximately 12:30 p.m.
