Two injured in shooting on Pulaski Street

SOUTH BEND, Ind. --South Bend Police Department said on Wednesday night two people were injured in a shooting on Pulaski Street.

Sgt. Dan Demler, southeast side supervisor, said he and other officers in the area heard "multiple gun shots."

"We were northeast of here and we called it out and started heading to the area," Sgt. Demler said. "Upon arrival we found two victims they've since been transported to the hospital."

Sgt. Demler said the two victims were shot at the home in the 1800 block of South Pulaski Street.

The 23-year-old victim suffered a wound to the upper leg and a graze wound to the chest. The second victim, 19, suffered a wound to the lower leg.

It's a possibility that a party was going on and shots were fired into the party, according to Sgt. Demler. However, he said it's still early in the investigation and they aren't 100 percent sure.

"It's like 'wow' kind of thing, it's like head to the area hope we don't find anything you know anyone injured," he said. "But unfortunately, this case we do."

Sgt. Demler said witnesses are cooperating with the investigation, but at this time, do not have an ID for the shooting suspect. He said witnesses saw several vehicles leaving the scene and one person running away from the scene.
