LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. -- The La Porte County Sheriff's Office has two people in custody after they were found by a homeowner trying to burgle a residence around 12:17 p.m. on Monday. 

Authorities say they were called to the location in the 6900 block of C.R. 525 on May 26 in reference to a burglary-in-progress.

"Two subjects had been found on the property by the homeowner," authorities said. 

"Deputies arrived and began to gather information from the victim. Shortly thereafter, the two subjects were taken into custody."

The pair was identified as 39-year-old Keri L. Kohn of Michigan City and 37-year-old Gregory J. Novak of La Porte.

Kohn and Novak were taken to the La Porte County Jail on charges of felony Burglary. As of noon on Wednesday, May 28, both remain housed in the LCJ on $20,005.00 cash-only bonds through Superior Court I.
