Two local Indiana communities receive fine art grants

INDIANAPOLIS—Two local communities have received grants from the Indiana Arts Commission, the organization announced Thursday.

The City of Knox received $3,000 for the Magic Bus band, which was formed in 2009 by founder Mark Harrington.

According to the arts commission, the Magic Bus will perform and host a meet and greet at the annual Fall Bash in Wythogan Park.

The Bergamot band in Middlebury comprised of South Bend native husband-wife duo Nathaniel Hoff and Jillian Speece also received $3,000 from the commission. The band is slated to perform as part of a public performance and conversation.

Eight other grants were awarded to communities throughout the state of Indiana.

The Rural Indiana Performance Fund supports communities in creating experiences involving fine arts including dance, music, theater, musical theater and more.
