Two people arrested after traffic stop in La Porte County
LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. – Two people were arrested and a fire arm was confiscated after a traffic stop Thursday night in La Porte County.
According to a Facebook post, Sergeant Jeff Wright observed a vehicle speeding at 100 mph traveling westbound on US 20 Thursday night and pulled the vehicle over by initiating a traffic stop.
The driver was identified as Ankoma H. Kirk, 20, of South Bend. The female passenger was identified as Ladericka R. Banks, 20, of Elkhart.
During the traffic stop, a loaded firearm was located within the passenger compartment of the vehicle.
Kirks was arrested and transported to the La Porte County Jail (LCJ). He was arrested for being a felon in possession of a firearm (level five felony), obliterating identifying marks on a firearm (level five felony), reckless driving (C-misdemeanor) and operating while never licensed (C-misdeameanor).
Kirk is housed in the LCJ and is being held on a $15,005.00 cash only bond through Superior Court l.
Banks was arrested and transported to the LCJ. She was arrested for minor consumption of alcohol (C-misdeameanor).
Banks was released Friday afternoon on her own recognizance.
