Two people charged with stealing cash register from South Bend restaurant
SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Two men were arrested and charged after burglarizing a restaurant on South Bend’s northwest side on Monday, according to the South Bend Police Department.
Clifford Murphy, 58, and 54-year-old Tyrone Sims were both charged with burglary. Sims also had an active warrant related to a previous burglary case.
Just before midnight on Monday, police were called to JJ Fish and Chicken on Lincoln Way West after the burglary alarm was tripped.
Police arrived right as Murphy jumped out of the drive-thru window and ran from the business, reports said.
A police K9 quickly found him one block from the restaurant.
Surveillance video from the restaurant also depicted Murphy unplug the cash register and pass it through the window to a second man, later identified as Sims.
Police found Sims a few blocks from the restaurant an hour later.
Officers found the cash register near the business.
