Two people hospitalized after M51 crash in Cass County Monday morning

CASS COUNTY, Mich. -- The Cass County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a crash involving two vehicles Monday morning at the intersection of M51 and M152 in Silver Creek Township.

Authorities say a 44-year-old South Haven resident was driving south on M51, when a vehicle driven by 58-year-old, Christopher Mohney of Dowagiac, failed to stop at the stop sign at M152.

The South Haven resident's vehicle crashed into the rear-end of Mohney vehicle around 8:25 a.m. Monday (Oct. 14) morning.

Mohney’s 51-year-old passenger, also of Dowagiac, and the South Haven resident were transported to Ascension Borgess-Lee Hospital by ambulance for injuries sustained in the crash.

"Seat belts were worn by both subjects," authorities said. "Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in this crash."
