Two people hospitalized after being trapped in vehicle following crash

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- Two people were taken to the hospital Tuesday morning after spending the night in their crashed vehicle, according to St. Joseph County Police.

The car was located around 8:30 a.m. off Dragoon Trail near Hilltop Farms by hunters on private property. 

The car had crashed into a ditch a few hundred feet down a dirt side road.

The driver was transported to the hospital with several injuries, including a possibly broken foot.

The passenger was transported to the hospital with unknown injuries.

Initial reports to dispatch said the pair had been in the vehicle for two days. The property owner told police the vehicle wasn't there on Monday, January 4 and believes the car crashed sometime after dark Monday night.

It is believed they were in the vehicle less than 24 hours, according to police.

The occupants were unsure how long they had been in the vehicle.

The investigation is ongoing.
