Two rescued after bizarre toll road crash

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. - Emergency crews rescued two people from a Penske rental truck that was dangling over a bridge on the Indiana Toll Road Friday.

Police say there was a crash between the truck and an RV in the westbound lanes of the toll road in Elkhart County, about a mile west of the Elkhart exit.

They say the RV was towing a Jeep and had pulled off to the left of traffic.

The driver of the Penske truck approached from the right, apparently didn't notice traffic had slowed down, and then had to swerve to the left.

The truck hit a guardrail and then hit the Jeep and RV, before then bouncing over the concrete guardrail and coming to a rest while hanging over the bridge.

Firefighters were able to rescue a man and a woman from the Penske truck.

Nobody was hurt and traffic on the toll road resumed shortly after 2 p.m.

Below is video of the firefighters' rescue effort.
