SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The South Bend Board of Public Safety approved the promotions of two South Bend Fire Department captains on Wednesday.
Captain Mike Szucs was promoted to Battalion Chief at Engine 2.
He was pinned by his father, a former captain of the South Bend Fire Department and a legacy of other Szucz family members at the fire department.
Captain Cliff Powell was promoted to captain in special assignment at Engine 9. He was pinned with his former captain's pin by his two children.
Both captains received new helmets signifying their change in rank.
