Two subjects detained after shots fired at Indiana Dunes
OGDEN DUNES, Ind. -- Two people were issued a court summons after they allegedly fired shots from a rifle at the Indiana Dunes National Park Monday morning, according to Ogden Dunes Police.
Porter County's 9-1-1 center received a call about two people at Party Hill on Stagecoach Road shooting a rifle.
Ogden Dunes Police and a Portage officer arrived on scene at 11:54 a.m. and detained two people, a man and a woman.
The man had a rifle that was loaded, with the safety off, police said. He also had a loaded 9 mm on his person, police said.
Inside their vehicle, police located a second 9 mm handgun that appeared to have been fired recently, police said.
The two subjects were detained for National Park Rangers because the incident happened within the boundary of the national park.
The park ranger issued a mandatory appearance summons to the suspects.
