Two-vehicle crash in Cass County just before noon on Friday
CASS COUNTY, Mich. - Friday, just before noon, police responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Marcellus Highway and Decatur Road in Volinia Township in Cass County, Michigan.
According to officials, the initial Investigation showed a 28-year-old man was traveling eastbound on Marcellus Highway with a 1-year-old passenger in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
A 73-year-old woman was traveling north on Decatur Road, with a 19-year-old passenger, when she failed to yield to oncoming traffic while entering Marcellus Highway causing the crash, according to officials.
The 73-year-old driver and 19-year-old passenger were transported to Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital for injuries sustained during the crash.
Police say drugs and alcohol are not considered a factor in the crash.
Police say seatbelts were worn at the time of the crash.
Officials state the crash remains under investigation.
Wayne Township Fire Department, Dowagiac Fire Department, Pride Care Ambulance, and Marcellus Ambulance assisted at the scene.
