BENTON HARBOR, Mich. -- On April 30, the Benton Township Police responded to the report of a personal injury crash on E. Empire Ave between Yore Ave and Highpoint Dr.
Upon arriving, officers located a Toyota Rav 4 and a Ford F-150 badly damaged.
The initial investigation shows that the Toyota, driven by a 65-year-old Saint Joseph County resident, crossed the center line into oncoming traffic for an unknown reason, and struck the Ford F-150 being driven by a 52-year-old Watervliet resident.
The driver of the Toyota was pronounced dead on the scene.
The Ford F-150 driver was transported to Corewell Health for non-life-threatening injuries and is cooperating with the investigation.
Names of the individuals involved with the crash will not be released at this time.
