Two women rescued from the water at Lions Park Beach

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. -- Two women were rescued from the water at Lion's Park Beach on Sunday, according to the St. Joseph Department of Public Safety.

Officers were dispatched to Lions Park Beach around 4:30 Sunday for a water rescue.

Two sisters from Illinois were swimming when they got into deep water and struggled to get out.

Several bystanders assisted the women.

The women were both transported to Spectrum Health Lakeland.

The 29-year-old was treated and released. The 32-year-old remains hospitalized in critical condition.
