United Health Care responds to data leak and aims to protect members

United Health Care (UHC) had a security data leak that may affect certain Indiana residents.

This leak involves personal health information with names, member ID numbers, plan types and patient residency.

This incident did not involve social security, driver's license numbers or financial account information.

UHC has been investigating this matter since December 2022 when an unauthorized third party accessed a UHC broker portal, and they promptly alerted officials.

The unauthorized third party accessed information from December 1, 2022 to January 25, 2023.

UHC is committed to protecting its members' and brokers' information and has placed additional safeguards for the future.

Affected individuals are being notified, but if you notice any suspicious activity to your health plan, call 800-669-1812 Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST, toll free.
