United States known as tornado capital of the world

Certain combinations of weather factors make the United States the twister capital of the world.

The four main ingredients for tornadoes are all unique to the states making twisters 10 times more common in the United States than anywhere else in the world.

Western mountains combined with a warm ocean in the south east, cold air from Canada, and a powerful jet stream combine to spawn more funnel clouds than anywhere else on the planet.

There are about 1,000 tornadoes a year in America compared with only 100 in Canada.
