United Way is just a call away

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- If you need help paying your utility bill or applying for food stamps the South Bend call center at the United Way is just a call away at 2-1-1.

It is just a three digit number that helps countless people in our community get help.

The South Bend call center at the United Way helps people across five counties in Michiana.

Operators are ready to help folks in need of special services on local, state and federal levels.

"We want people calling. we're trying to connect those dots. We don't want people to suffer and not know where to get help in our community" said Karen Sommers, VP Community Investment for United Way of St. Joseph County.

2-1-1 calls are answered 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
