United Way to provide heat and other needs for winter season

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The temperatures are getting ready to drop, and that means heaters will be cranking up across Michiana.

The United Way is ready to help with utilities and other needs. It's part of the 211 program. The toll free number is open 24-7 to help people with anything from utility bills to holiday assistance.

The program is open to people in St. Joseph, Elkhart, Kosciusko, Marshall, Fulton and La Porte counties.
