Unwanted guest arrested on OWI, Battery, and more following police chase

Nora Jenkins

FULTON COUNTY, Ind. -- The Fulton County Sheriff's Office reports deputies responded to a home in the 5000 block of N. 600 East on Monday for a report of an unwanted guest.

Deputies arrived to find a woman, identified as 42-year-old Nora Jenkins of Rochester, sitting in a vehicle in the driveway.

Authorities say Jenkins showed signs of intoxication.

The homeowner reported Jenkins had damaged a window and the front door but declined to pursue charges.

As deputies spoke to the homeowner, Jenkins fled the scene in her vehicle.

Authorities began a pursuit, noting Jenkins drove recklessly through county roads, failed to stop at multiple intersections, and drove in the opposite lane toward oncoming traffic.

The chase ended near the Menominee Access area after Jenkins struck a tree and was boxed in by patrol vehicles.

The report states Jenkins refused verbal commands and physically resisted deputies.

A deputy then released K9 Agi to help remove Jenkins from the vehicle.

She was then taken into custody.

Deputies say Jenkins kept resisting on the way to Woodlawn Hospital for medical attention.

While at the hospital, Jenkins is said to have struck staff, requiring deputies to further restrain her.

A blood draw was completed following a signed search warrant. The test results are pending.

After being medically cleared, Jenkins was taken to the Fulton County Jail.

Jail staff located a green plant-like substance on her person, which was collected as evidence.

Jenkins has been charged with Operating While Intoxicated, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Reckless Driving, Resisting Law Enforcement with a Vehicle, Resisting Law Enforcement, Disorderly Conduct, Public Intoxication, Possession of Marijuana, and Battery on Public Safety Officials.
