UPDATE: Alcohol may be a factor in Elkhart County buggy crash

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- Alcohol may be to blame for an Elkhart County horse and buggy crash.

It happened just after 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, on State Road 13, just north of County Road 38.

42-year-old Martin Tlahuel was trying to pass the buggy when police said he swerved to miss an oncoming car and crashed into the side of the buggy.

Emergency crews took the buggy operator and passenger to a Goshen hospital.

Luckily, no one was seriously injured.

Police arrested Tlahuelafter he failed a field sobriety test.
