UPDATE: Firefighters on scene of a Penn Township fire

PENN TOWNSHIP, Ind.--An Early morning fire destroyed a grain elevator in Penn Township.

The fire Started around five, Monday morning, on Dogwood Road.

More than seven fire departments responded to the fire and tankers had to be brought in because of the lack of fire hydrants in the area.

The roof collapsed, which made fighting the fire even more difficult.

Captain Aaron Maust, with the Penn Township Fire department had this to say about the fire, “We are not going to put anybody in it. Gaining access is the biggest problem. Any machinery, tracks trailers, fuel oil make it a little difficult to get out.”

The fire destroyed some machinery and is still under investigation.

No one was injured during the fire.
