Snow and very cold this weekend
ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- The St. Joseph County Police Department has officially confirmed the deaths of two elderly people in a house fire in the 55100 block of Pear Road early Wednesday morning.
At roughly 6 a.m. fire and police personnel were dispatched to the residence in western St. Joseph County.
"Warren Township fire fighters battled for approximately an hour before fully extinguishing the fire," SJCPD officials said. "Fire personnel attempted life saving measures on two residents pulled from the fire."
The residents of the home, 72-year-old Mark Poland and 70-year-old Janice Poland were pronounced dead on scene from injuries suffered in the fire.
Autopsies for both victims are schedule for Thursday morning.
State Fire Investigators along with investigators from the St. Joseph County Police Department are investigating the fire and have not yet determined a cause.
